Problem:
A user is able to access their Google Apps (hosted Gmail) account through webmail, but NOT through an email client using POP3 or IMAP.
Cause:
Their user account has an active CAPTCHA that needs to be unlocked.
Solution:
Unlock the user’s CAPTCHA by visiting:
http://mail.google.com/a/your-domain-name.com/UnlockCaptcha
(case sensitive)
You will be prompted for the username and password, and you will have to fill out a CAPTCHA. This should unlock the mailbox for POP3/IMAP access.
If the described problem continues to occur, consider trying the following:
- Increase the strength/complexity of the user’s password
- Increase the interval at which the email client accesses the mailbox for an automatic Send/Receive
-Nick
